WEBSITE SELLERS:

WEBSITE SELLER’S CODE OF ETHICS
- CLAIMS OF PAST PROFIT
Any claim of past profit such as “$1000/mth” or “$50/day” must be supported by a history of more than six months and any special promotions to obtain such profits (such as Warrior Special Offers) must be fully disclosed. For sites with less than six months of stable profit history, profit should be disclosed but no general profit claims (i.e. “$1000/mth”) may be made. - CLAIMS OF CURRENT & FUTURE PROFIT
Any claim of future or current profit must be supported with past profit (see #1 above) and the means as to which the profit is to be sustained must be fully disclosed. For example if the past profit is generated through natural search traffic then it must be disclosed that it is this metric that is being used to estimate future profit. All future profit estimates must be stated and disclaimed as such (estimates). - MEMBERSHIP & READERSHIP CLAIMS
Any claims of membership or readership (such as “2,140 registered members” or “255 newsletter subscribers”) must include disclosure as to the source and uniqueness of such members. - CLAIMS OF POTENTIAL
Estimates of potential in terms of traffic, income, registrations, or other conversions may be made but it must be explicitly specified as an estimate only and not a guarantee or fact. - DISCLOSURE OF CONTENT
If the primary content on the site is not original such as content fed through auto-blog software, feeds, or other third party content it must be completely disclosed as such. - REASON FOR SALE
The reason for sale given must be accurate and include any information such as a decline in profits, decrease in traffic, reason Google ban, etc. If the site was built for the exclusive purpose of being resold (“flipped”) this must be disclosed. - OUTSTANDING DEBTS
If the site is carrying any outstanding debts this must be fully disclosed to the buyer. These can include past due server fees, domain name registrations, supplier payments, etc. - ADDITIONAL COSTS & RECURRING BILLS
Any and all additional costs and / or recurring bills that the buyer must pay to keep the site in its current and estimated states must be fully disclosed. This can include domain transfer fees, hosting costs, marketing costs, software licenses, domain name registration, etc.
